Egypt Praised for Good Offices in Clinching Iran-IAEA Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi admired Egypt for its key role in facilitating an agreement between Tehran and the UN nuclear agency following unlawful Israeli and American attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The Iranian foreign minister held a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss bilateral and regional developments.

Araqchi provided the Egyptian president with a report on Iran-Egypt cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening ties in the areas of mutual interest, including economic, trade, and tourism sectors, as well as collaboration to maintain regional security and stability.

The Iranian minister specifically commended Egypt’s constructive efforts regarding Iran’s nuclear case and its hosting of the joint Iran-IAEA session, which led to the finalization of the framework for Iran-IAEA cooperation in light of recent unlawful attacks by the US and the Israeli regime on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Araqchi described the collaboration between Iran and Egypt as a clear reflection of mutual understanding and trust between the two countries, noting it should serve as a valuable platform for further strengthening ties.

For his part, President El-Sisi welcomed the positive trajectory of relations between the two countries and underscored the importance of continued consultations to advance the interests of both nations and regional peace.

The meeting also addressed regional developments, particularly the catastrophic situation in Gaza and the ongoing genocide and crimes committed by the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine.

Both sides denounced repeated Israeli aggressions against the regional countries, including the recent terrorist attack on Qatar, stressing the need for cooperation and coordination among the regional states to halt the Israeli regime’s warmongering and safeguard regional security.
