Army Chief Highlights Israel’s Failure in War on Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Amir Hatami said the Zionist regime failed to achieve any of its key objectives during the 12-day war of aggression against Iran in June, stressing that the Islamic Republic emerged stronger in every military sphere.

Speaking on Saturday about the course of the imposed war, Major General Hatami said the enemy’s main goal was to completely destroy Iran’s nuclear capability, but it failed to do so. “Our nuclear strength is based on indigenous science and technology, and such a capability cannot be eradicated,” he stressed.

He added that the enemy also attempted to disrupt Iran’s defense structure by assassinating commanders. “With the immediate and wise decisions of the Commander-in-Chief (Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei) and the appointment of new commanders, this plot too ended in failure,” the Army chief said.

Hatami went on to say that another target was Iran’s missile power. “The enemy wanted to wipe out our missile capabilities during this 12-day war, but it never happened. Until the last moment, with our missile strength, we brought the enemy to its knees and struck targets inside the occupied territories.”

He noted that in the final days of the war, Iran intensified its missile operations, which challenged and overwhelmed the Zionist regime’s missile defense systems.

The commander further stated that the enemy also sought to destroy Iran’s air defense power but failed in that area as well. “Today you can see the active and effective role of our air defense forces,” Hatami stated.

Emphasizing the importance of lessons learned from the conflict, the top general said the experiences of Iranian pilots who engaged the enemy during the 12-day war must be carefully recorded and utilized for future planning.

On June 13, the Zionist regime launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, targeting military, nuclear, and residential areas for 12 consecutive days. The United States later escalated the conflict by striking three of Iran’s nuclear sites in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan on June 22.

Iran’s Armed Forces delivered an immediate and forceful response. The IRGC Aerospace Force carried out 22 waves of retaliatory missile strikes under Operation True Promise III, inflicting significant damage and heavy losses on cities across the occupied territories.

In retaliation for the US attacks, Iranian forces also targeted al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar —the largest American military installation in West Asia— with a barrage of missiles.

The confrontation came to an end on June 24, when a ceasefire was enforced.
