President Urges Action against Bullies Hampering Iran-China Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the need to stand firm against the bullying policies of countries that oppose friendly relations between Iran and China.
In a meeting with Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning, held in Beijing on Tuesday, Pezeshkian described the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as an effective tool for countering unilateralism, stressing that humanity desires justice, fairness, and adherence to the law.
He noted that global civilization is rooted in the ancient histories and cultures of countries like Iran and China, which can foster dignified lives for their people, his official website reported.
The president reiterated Iran's readiness to implement agreements and operationalize discussions, stating that it is essential to resist pressures from the states opposed to friendly relations.
He also stated that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with China, assigning the Iranian administration to pursue this matter actively.
Pezeshkian expressed hope that the establishment of a joint task force would expedite the implementation of agreements between the two nations.
The Chinese official, for his part, acknowledged Pezeshkian's positive assessment of the recent SCO summit in Tianjin and expressed China's readiness to operationalize the understandings reached with President Xi Jinping.
He reaffirmed China's support for Iran on issues related to sovereignty and national interests, stating that China, having historically supported Iran, remains committed to this partnership.
He also highlighted the serious willingness of both sides to enhance practical cooperation, assuring that promises made by the Chinese president would be fulfilled.
He emphasized the need to strengthen multilateral cooperation and expressed gratitude for Iran's support of global governance initiative, highlighting China's rejection of bullying and its commitment to the principles of the United Nations and the international order established after World War II.
