Israeli Raid in Nablus Injures 80 As UN Warns of Rising West Bank Death Toll

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An hours-long Israeli military raid in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus has left at least 80 Palestinians injured, as the UN reports nearly 1,000 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and settlers across the territory since October 2023.

Medical sources in Nablus confirmed that the number of wounded from the latest Israeli raid has surged to 80, including one Palestinian struck by live fire.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that dozens were injured after Israeli forces fired tear gas in the Old City, while troops pursued others with live ammunition.

According to Wafa news agency, the Israeli assault in Nablus has stretched for more than nine hours.

Heavily armed forces deployed snipers and military vehicles in the city’s center, forcing some residents to evacuate their homes under fire.

Israeli troops also carried out raids across the occupied West Bank, storming homes near Bethlehem and arresting five people.

In Tammun, near Tubas, soldiers launched patrols, while in al-Yamoun near Jenin, forces raided a home and caused extensive damage.

The escalation in Nablus comes as Palestinians across the West Bank face near-daily incursions by the Israeli army and settlers since the start of the Gaza war.

In Ramallah, dozens were wounded in another intensive raid, with several hit by live bullets.

The United Nations Human Rights Office reported that at least 982 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have been killed since October 7, 2023.

It described last week’s Israeli raid on al-Mughayyir village as “another example of the ongoing oppression and coercion against Palestinians.”

Local officials in the village said Israeli forces destroyed around 3,000 olive trees, uprooting a vital source of livelihood for Palestinian families.
