Iran, Iraq Call for Concerted Action to End Israeli Siege of Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein called for urgent collective action by Islamic and Arab countries to force Israel to lift the siege on the Gaza Strip and to provide humanitarian relief to its residents.
The two top diplomats held talks on the sidelines of an extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah on Monday.
Araqchi praised the Iraqi government and people for their exemplary hosting of Arbaeen pilgrims, describing the event as a symbol of unity and strength of Shiite Muslims.
During the meeting, the two senior diplomats strongly condemned the crimes committed by the Israeli regime, particularly its move to deprive Gazans of essential food, water, and medical supplies.
They also stressed the need for immediate action to end the blockade of Gaza, deliver humanitarian aids into the enclave, halt the ongoing genocide of Palestinians, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Their discussions also included bilateral ties, with both sides emphasizing the expansion of cooperation in the political and economic fields, full implementation of existing agreements, particularly the security memorandum between Iran and Iraq, and the completion of the Shalamcheh-Basra railroad project.
