MP: Motion on Iran’s Withdrawal from NPT Finalized, Ready for Vote
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A lawmaker said the motion on Iran’s withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) has completed its review process and is now prepared to be put before Parliament for a vote.
Speaking to Tasnim, Hossein Ali Hajideligani said the activation of the so-called snapback mechanism of the 2015 nuclear deal by the European troika accelerated the push for the plan in Parliament, adding that the examination and finalization stages of the proposal have now concluded.
He stressed that the issue of leaving the NPT is not a mere media slogan or verbal threat, but an option that has been studied at different levels and is ready to be introduced on the Parliament floor.
According to the lawmaker, this measure would serve as a firm and clear response to Europe’s breaches and hostile actions.
“By triggering the snapback mechanism against Iran, the Europeans demonstrated that they are not committed to their obligations. Under such circumstances, it is natural for Iran to adopt serious and strategic decisions (in response to) this irresponsible approach,” the MP said.
He warned that European parties must understand their illogical and hostile actions will not go unanswered, stressing that Iran will defend its national interests and security with resolute and proportionate decisions.
