Iran Condemns Israeli Killing of Al Jazeera Staff in Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the Zionist regime’s assassination of five Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza City, calling for global action against the Israeli genocidal crimes.
“A press badge is no shield against genocidal war criminals who fear the world witnessing their atrocities. Five more journalists -Al Jazeera’s entire team- were assassinated in cold blood by the Israeli regime’s deliberate airstrike on their tent in Gaza City,” Esmaeil Baqaei said in a post on his X account on Monday.
“Meanwhile, Gazans are massacred, starved to death, and targeted in Israeli-American 'food traps',” he added.
“Strong condemnation is the bare minimum for any decent human being, but the world must act immediately to stop this harrowing genocide and hold the criminals accountable. Indifference and inaction are complicity in Israel’s crimes,” the Iranian spokesman stated.
The Israeli regime’s military has claimed responsibility for the targeted attack, which killed correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh, cameramen Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa, and their assistant Mohammed Noufal.
The Committee to Protect Journalists has called for accountability. The National Press Club also urged an inquiry and the Freedom of the Press Foundation appealed for action to halt further attacks on the media.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 61,430 people and wounded 153,213 since October 2023.
