Azarpira Wins Gold at Matteo Pellicone Memorial
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle wrestler Amirali Azarpira secured a gold medal at the Memorial Matteo Pellicone event.
He defeated Radu Lefter from Moldova in the 97kg category to clinch the gold.
The weight class was contested with only two wrestlers.
A two-time world under-23 gold medalist, Azarpira had been sidelined with a torn ligament injury following an impressive bronze medal win in the 97kg category at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
