Daesh Terrorist Cell Dismantled in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Police said they have captured all members of a cell affiliated with the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group and foiled bombing plots.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Police said the “major and complicated” operation to arrest the Daesh elements has been carried out by the counterterrorism division of the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran –known as FARAJA.

All 13 elements of the network involved in plots to carry out “terrorist and suicide attacks”, including its ringleader, the logistical teams, and the suicide attack forces have been captured, General Saeed Montazeralmahdi said.

He noted that the arrestees had plans for acts of sabotage and bombing attacks on recent events in Iran.

The terrorists have been captured in the provinces of Tehran, Isfahan, Qom and Alborz, the spokesman stated, adding that their equipment, including vests and backpacks used for suicide attacks, have been confiscated as well.
