Over 70% of Iranian Hajj Pilgrims Arrive in Saudi Arabia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 61,000 Iranian pilgrims have traveled to Saudi Arabia in the past 20 days, with over 70% of them arriving on schedule and without major disruptions, according to Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.

Alireza Bayat announced that from May 4 to May 24, a total of 61,739 Iranian pilgrims were sent to Saudi Arabia in 421 caravans via 252 flights, most of which experienced minimal delays.

He stated that "more than 70% of Iranian pilgrims" have already been transferred, and all remaining pilgrims are expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia over the coming week, in accordance with the scheduled program.

All pilgrims currently in Medina are expected to be transferred to Mecca by next week to begin the formal rituals of Hajj, according to the Hajj officials.

The 252 flights over the past 20 days included 211 operated by Iran Air and 41 by Saudi airlines.

“We’ve observed orderly flight operations,” Bayat stated, expressing hope that the remaining 23,000 pilgrims will be transferred to Saudi Arabia by May 31.

Bayat also reported that approximately 30,000 outpatient and medical services have been provided to pilgrims during this period.

He urged pilgrims to strictly follow preventive health guidelines issued by the Medical Center to ensure they complete their pilgrimage in good health.

“We have deployed a capable medical team in Mecca and Medina,” he said, “fully prepared to offer both general and specialized healthcare services to the pilgrims.”
