Everyone in Gaza at Critical Famine Risk, 500,000 Face Starvation
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Gaza’s entire population is at critical risk of famine, and half a million Palestinians in the enclave face starvation, according to a global hunger monitor, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).
The global hunger monitor said on Monday that Gaza’s entire population continues to face a critical risk of famine, while half a million people face starvation.
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification described the findings as major deterioration since its last assessment in October, Al Jazeera reported.
The latest report analyzed a period from April 1 to May 10 this year and gave projections of the situation until the end of September, according to a summary of its key findings.
While the people of Gaza are suffering from famine, the Israeli forces continue bombarding the enclave, killing at least 17 people at a school-turned-shelter as the total blockade of the Strip enters its 71st day.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 52,862 Palestinians and wounded 119,648, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The Government Media Office updated the death toll to more than 61,700, saying thousands of people missing under the rubble are presumed dead.
