Hezbollah Confirms Commander Killed in Israeli Airstrike
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah confirmed the death of one of its top commanders in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut.
Hezbollah officially confirmed the martyrdom of Fuad Shukr, a senior commander, in an Israeli airstrike on a Beirut neighborhood on July 30.
The assassination occurred when an Israeli attack drone fired three missiles at the area around Hezbollah’s Shoura Council in the Haret Hreik neighborhood.
Lebanon’s media reported the official confirmation on Wednesday.
Following the confirmation, Hezbollah issued a statement saying Fuad Shukr’s sacrifices “stand as a powerful symbol of our unwavering commitment and resolve to continue on our righteous path until the liberation of our land and holy sites.”
Hours after Shukr’s assassination, another assassination operation by the Israeli regime targeted Ismail Haniyeh, chief of the political bureau of Hamas, in Tehran.
Haniyeh was killed during the early hours of Wednesday while in Iran’s capital to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Despite Israeli claims of delivering a “crushing blow” to the Axis of Resistance, resistance leaders have vowed severe punishment for the perpetrators.
In Tehran, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei responded to Haniyeh’s assassination by warning Israel of a “harsh response.”
Ayatollah Khamenei stated it is the Islamic Republic’s duty to avenge the blood of the Palestinian resistance leader.
“The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime martyred our dear guest in our homeland and left us bereaved, but it also set the ground for a harsh punishment for itself,” he said.
