Poupak Basami Snatches Bronze: ISG 2021
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian female weightlifter Poupak Basami seized a bronze medal in the -55 kg weight class of the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games on Friday.
She lifted 71 kg in the snatch and 94 kg in the clean and jerk to finish third with a total of 165 kg.
Indonesian weightlifter Natasya Beteyob (84-111-195) won the gold, while the silver medal went to Turkmenistan’s Kristina Sermetowa (89-105-194).
The 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games are being held in Konya, Turkey, from August 9 to 18, 2022. It is a multinational, multi-sport event attended by athletes from the nations of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
With an exception of the 2010 Games, it has taken place every four years since its debut in 2005 at Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The Islamic Solidarity Games are organized and directed by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, but for the first time in history, the event is organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee.
