Iranian President Commends Armed Forces for Help in Coronavirus Battle
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of Iran Hassan Rouhani praised the country’s Armed Force for the great assistance they have been providing for the medical society in the fight against the novel coronavirus epidemic.
In separate telephone conversations with Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri and Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi on Friday, the Iranian president congratulated the senior commanders on the Army Day and the Ground Force Day, and expressed his gratitude to the military forces for helping contain the COVID-19 outbreak.
Lauding the Armed Forces as the “guardians of the homeland and health assistants”, President Rouhani said the military units are a reliable backing for the nation and have always proved their remarkable role in various junctures and developments.
The two commanders also briefed the president on the latest measures taken by the military forces in ensuing public health amid the coronavirus outbreak.
This year, the Army decided to carry out an alternative plan for military parades to prevent any gathering of people in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus and help the medical staff in the battle with COVID-19.
In the “service parade” held in Tehran and 24 other provincial capitals on Friday morning, the Army units displayed a range of public health equipment, including disinfection gear, mobile hospitals, special vehicles for disinfecting and sanitizing the public places, as well as the humanitarian aids provided by the Army personnel.
