Trump’s Deal of Century ‘Sheer Travesty’: Iran’s FM Spokesman
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi decried Washington’s so-called peace plan for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a “sheer travesty” aimed at sowing “everlasting hatred and violence” in West Asia.
“The so-called ‘Deal of the Century’ is a sheer travesty, conjured up by rogue crooks to shatter the dreams of a long-suffering nation for human dignity and self- determination. It is indeed a ‘Deveal (devil+deal)’, descended to sow everlasting hatred and violence in West Asia,” Mousavi tweeted late on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also deplored the so-called plan for peace between Palestine and Israel as a “nightmare” for the region and the world.
On Tuesday night, US President Donald Trump, during a joint presser with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, unveiled his long-delayed Middle East plan. He said the plan envisages the city as the Israeli regime’s “undivided capital.”
Following Trump’s announcement, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said “a thousand no’s” to the plan.
The American plan has sparked widespread international condemnation.
