Russia Will Not Stay in Syria Forever: PM Medvedev
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview that Moscow does not plan to maintain its military presence in Syria indefinitely.
Moscow is not planning perpetual military presence in Syria, while the scale of it will be decided by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.
"I reiterate, Russia doesn’t intend to stay in Syria forever," the minister told the Time magazine, Sputnik News reported.
Moscow has been carrying out a very limited and a specific task in the country which is based on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s request since September 30, Medvedev said.
Therefore, he added, Russian authorities will decide on the scale of the Russian military involvement.
