Israeli Families Pay Hefty Price As War Strains Society

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Israeli daily warned Monday that prolonged war has pushed society to the brink, exposing deep fractures inside occupied Palestine.

According to data from Israel’s central bureau of statistics, nearly half of couples whose spouses serve in the military reserves reported serious damage to their family relationships.

The findings, published by Israel Hayom show a rising toll on households as the war drags on.

Reporter Rachel Azaria wrote that the statistics do not fully capture the grim picture inside Israeli occupied teritories.

She said long deployments, repeated separations of parents and children, and the absence of husbands and wives are creating real crises that erode family life.

The report also revealed that the war has fueled an increase in domestic violence, leaving families to shoulder a heavy burden for the state’s aggression.

It concluded with a stark warning to Israeli officials that if social resilience collapses, the entire regime will pay the price for more than a decade.

The Israeli opposition and families of captives accuse prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu of blocking any potential deal to end the war and bring home their relatives in order to protect his political survival.

Domestically, Netanyahu faces corruption charges that could land him in prison if convicted, while the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity against Palestinians in Gaza.

The Israeli army has killed over 66,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in Gaza since October 2023. The relentless bombardment has rendered the enclave uninhabitable and led to starvation and the spread of diseases.
