‘Friends of UN Charter’ Praised for Solidarity with Iran against Unilateralism
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi thanked members of the “Friends of the UN Charter” group for their solidarity with Tehran, their condemnation of US and Israeli actions, and their support for collective efforts to counter unilateral coercive measures.
The seventh ministerial meeting of the “Friends of the UN Charter” group was held in New York on the sidelines of the annual UN General Assembly, bringing together top diplomats from member states, including Araqchi.
In his remarks, Araqchi thanked the responsible positions of the “Friends of the UN Charter” group for their solidarity with Iran through condemning the aggression of the Zionist regime and the US against Iran, as well as for the adoption of a special declaration regarding the heinous attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.
The foreign minister also referred to the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Palestine. He spoke about the ongoing Israeli genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, and its use of hunger to eradicate the Palestinian people by the Israeli regime with US support, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
Araqchi also underlined the necessity for concrete and effective measures to stop the Israeli crimes, including refraining from any assistance to this regime, imposing strong and effective sanctions by the Security Council, and bringing the Zionist regime’s criminal leaders to justice through effective international cooperation.
He further appreciated the efforts of the “Friends of the UN Charter” group in countering unilateral coercive measures and welcomed the adoption of the draft resolution by the group in the General Assembly, which, with the joint support of its members including Iran, designates the International Day for Combating Unilateral Coercive Measures.
