Iranian Defense Minister Urges Stronger SCO Security Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh called for enhanced cooperation among the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, stressing the need to strengthen regional security and economic resilience in the face of unilateralism.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 25th SCO summit in China’s Tianjin on Monday, Nasirzadeh said the world is increasingly confronted with Western unilateralism and excessive demands.

He noted that in various fields, including security, economy, and politics, regional organizations such as the SCO and BRICS can serve as effective alternatives to counter unilateral pressures and form new alliances.

The Iranian defense minister urged that the member states of these organizations should collaborate both economically and in security matters and work together to ensure regional security and develop their economies to counter sanctions.

Nasirzadeh added that the SCO has been founded precisely for these purposes and has already delivered positive results in promoting regional cooperation and stability.
