Top General Urges Boost to Iran’s Air Defense Power

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi called for the renovation and strengthening of Iran’s air defense capabilities with modern technologies.

In a message to Iranian Air Defense Commander Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard on the occasion of the National Air Defense Day on Sunday, the top general commemorated the dedication and heroism of those who rely on faith, knowledge, and innovation to safeguard Iran’s skies in critical historical moments.

He also highlighted that evolving regional and global security challenges, along with Iran’s experiences during the eight-year Sacred Defense in the 1980s and the recent 12-day war of aggression imposed by the Israeli regime and the US, make it imperative to modernize the air defense systems, enhance capabilities, and boost operational readiness.

Undoubtedly, Iran’s Air Defense, known as the frontline of defending national sovereignty, must leverage modern technologies, domestic innovations, and the expertise of committed personnel to maintain and expand its efficiency and deterrence against emerging threats, Major General Mousavi added.

The senior commander also underlined the strategic importance of implementing a reliable, integrated national air defense system and improving coordination and synergy between the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
