Flash Floods Claim Lives in Yemen amid Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Six people lost their lives on Monday after being swept away by flash floods in Yemen’s southeastern Shabwah province, raising the total death toll from recent floods to 14 since last week.

According to a statement by the province’s media center, the floods struck the valleys of Bayhan, Jardan, Arma, and Koura, resulting in six fatalities.

The statement noted that the floods also swept away three vehicles and caused damage to public roads, electricity networks, private property, and agricultural lands across the province.

In northwestern Yemen’s Hajjah province, the 26 September website quoted a civil defense source saying that a house collapsed in the village of al-Khadraa in Ku'aydinah, killing three children and injuring their parents.

Yemen’s already fragile infrastructure—severely weakened by more than a decade of devastating war has worsened the impact of seasonal floods.

Local residents continue to voice grievances over the absence of essential services in the face of mounting disasters.
