Iran’s Velayati Decries Fresh Push for Zangezur Corridor

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, warned about the fresh attempts to implement a plan for the so-called Zangezur corridor that is designed to link the Republic of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan.

In comments on Monday, Velayati warned certain regional and extra-regional governments against the resubmission of plans for the Zangezur corridor.

Iran is not indifferent to its own and to the region’s interests, he underlined, warning that any effort to pursue “illegitimate objectives in South Caucasus” will be met with Iran’s decisive reaction.

“I reiterate that any government in or outside the region intending to repeat the failed experience of the past will meet with Iran’s harsh response,” Velayati added.
