No Plan for Iran-US Talks: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry ruled out any plan to hold talks with the US.

Asked about the US president’s comments about the possibility of negotiations between Washington and Tehran, Esmaeil Baqaei said at a press conference on Monday that while arrangements have been made for a new round of talks with the European troika, Iran has no plans for negotiations with the US.

However, Iran emphasizes that it regards diplomacy as an opportunity, he stated.

The spokesman noted that Iran would use every opportunity whenever it perceives that it is helpful in safeguarding the national interests.

The next round of talks between Iran and the European troika will be held in Istanbul on Friday, July 25.

The negotiations will be held at the level of deputy foreign ministers and focus on Iran’s nuclear program.

Iranian deputy foreign ministers Majid Takht Ravanchi and Kazem Gharibabadi will be representing Iran in the upcoming talks.
