Iran’s FM Condemns Israeli, US Strikes as Blow to Diplomacy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Israeli and US military attacks against Iran constitute a clear violation of international law and represent a severe blow to diplomacy and non-proliferation efforts.
In a phone call with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot, Araqchi discussed the latest developments in West Asia following recent military aggression by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran.
He described the attacks as a blatant breach of the UN Charter and international law, stressing that such actions seriously damage diplomatic processes and undermine the global non-proliferation regime.
Araqchi criticized several European governments for supporting such “aggressive behavior,” warning that irresponsible stances could normalize international law violations and intensify insecurity both regionally and globally.
Referring to ongoing Zionist brutal aggressions in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon, Araqchi condemned the genocide in Gaza, adding that Israel is enjoying impunity due to political and military support from the United States and certain European countries.
He underscored the need for all states to take responsibility in confronting Israeli regime’s systematic violations of international law.
Belgium’s foreign minister also expressed concern over the escalation of regional tensions and reaffirmed his country’s support for diplomacy to resolve outstanding issues, including Iran’s nuclear file.
Prévot emphasized the importance of dialogue and urged all parties to work to prevent further escalation.
The two ministers also exchanged views on bilateral relations and consular matters.
