55 Palestinians Killed As Israel Pushes Mass Detention in Southern Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli occupation forces escalated their brutal attacks across Gaza, slaughtering at least 55 Palestinians since dawn Wednesday, while international outrage grows over Tel Aviv’s blueprint to confine displaced civilians in what observers describe as a “concentration camp” in Rafah
Israeli regime’s military intensified both aerial and ground offensives throughout the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to medical sources cited by Al Jazeera.
The Zionist military claimed its units demolished 130 so-called “terrorist infrastructure sites” in Khan Younis, including tunnels, arms caches and buildings rigged with explosives, without providing evidence.
Large sections of Khan Younis and neighboring Rafah have already been reduced to rubble under Israel’s relentless bombardment.
Tel Aviv’s next phase reportedly involves herding thousands of Palestinian families into a sealed encampment in Rafah under the pretext of separating civilians from Hamas fighters.
Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, denounced the plan as a gross violation of humanitarian law.
Ori Goldberg, an Israeli political analyst, said, “It is a big deal for Israel to talk about its plan of setting up what is for all facts and purposes a concentration camp for Palestinians in southern Gaza, committing what is an overt crime against humanity under international humanitarian law.”
He added that Israeli commanders admit they lack the resources to carry out this vast operation while continuing the bombardment.
Meanwhile, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent talks in Washington failed to yield a ceasefire breakthrough.
His coalition partners have already moved to block any withdrawal of troops from Gaza or the relinquishing of the Morag Corridor in the south, which would enable Israel to maintain its stranglehold on Rafah and advance the mass expulsion scheme.
Sources within Hamas and other Palestinian factions voiced anger over staged optimism designed to force them into a corner and portray them as unwilling to negotiate.
