Iran Raps Israeli Attacks on Lebanon
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry roundly condemned the Israeli regime’s military strikes on different parts of Lebanon.
“The constant violation of ceasefire and the continued aggressive and terrorist attacks against Lebanon amount to egregious violation of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent state in contravention of the fundamental principles of international law and have directly targeted the security of Lebanese citizens and its economic life,” Esmaeil Baqaei said in a statement on Monday.
He said the fact the Zionist regime has launched military strikes on Lebanon in the summertime amid the Lebanese government’s plans to attract tourists for the improvement of the Arab country’s economic situation reveals that Israel seeks to disrupt Lebanon’s economy and ruin the welfare of its people.
The Iranian spokesman sharply criticized the inaction of the international community, the United Nations and the Western guarantors of ceasefire on the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression against Lebanon, warning against the dire consequences of the Israeli policy of expansionism for regional security and stability.
On Saturday, Israeli drones carried out four strikes on southern Lebanese towns, killing one person and wounding several others. Most of the Israeli attacks have targeted areas near the border, but Israeli warplanes have also hit residential neighborhoods in Beirut’s southern districts, causing panic and mass evacuations.
Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli military carried out a wave of air strikes across south Lebanon, with heavy bombardment targeting the outskirts of Zawtar al-Charqiyeh, near Nabatieh.
The Lebanese officials have condemned such attacks and call on the United States and France – the two sponsors of last year’s ceasefire – to pressure Israel to end its violations.
