Araqchi Raps German Support for Aggression against Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi dismissed Germany’s concern about the suspension of Tehran’s cooperation with the IAEA, denouncing Berlin’s brazen support for the Israeli regime's unlawful military attacks on Iran and its safeguarded nuclear sites.
In a post on his X account on Thursday, Araqchi rejected the allegation made by Germany that the suspension of Iran’s cooperation with the UN nuclear agency sends a “devastating message”.
“Fake news. Iran remains committed to the NPT and its Safeguards Agreement. In accordance with the new legislation by Majlis, sparked by the unlawful attacks against our nuclear facilities by Israel and the US, our cooperation with the IAEA will be channeled through Iran's Supreme National Security Council for obvious safety and security reasons,” the Iranian foreign minister stressed.
“Reality: To Iranians, what truly ‘sends a devastating message’ and destroys ‘a diplomatic solution’ is very obvious:
- Germany's explicit support for Israel's unlawful attack on Iran, including safeguarded nuclear sites, as ‘dirty work’ carried out on behalf of the West. Germany also shamefully supported the unlawful US attack against Iranian nuclear facilities, which violated international law, the NPT, and the UN Charter.
- Germany's repudiation of its JCPOA commitments by openly demanding ‘zero enrichment’ in Iran,” he added
“Iranians were already put off by Germany's Nazi-style backing of Genocide in Gaza, and its support for Saddam’s war on Iran by providing materials for chemical weapons,” Araqchi said.
“The explicit German support for the bombing of Iran has obliterated the notion that the German regime harbors anything but malice towards Iranians,” the foreign minister noted.
While the Zionist regime waged a war of aggression against Iran on June 13 and struck Iran’s military, nuclear and residential areas for 12 days, the US stepped in and conducted military attacks on three nuclear sites in Iran’s Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan on June 22.
The Iranian Parliament passed a bill on June 25 to put the ties with the IAEA on hold after a biased report from IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi against Iran paved the way for a resolution by the Board of Governors that subsequently encouraged the Israeli regime and the US to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities in violation of the UN Charter and all international laws.
