Iranian Journalist Lauded in Caracas for Showing Resilience during Israeli Attack
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian journalist Sahar Emami expressed deep gratitude to the Venezuelan government and people for awarding her the 2025 Simón Bolívar National Journalism Prize, describing the honor as a stand against Israeli brutality and disinformation targeting Iran.
Emami characterized the prize as a powerful gesture of solidarity in the struggle for truth and justice, especially in the face of the criminal attacks Iran has endured from the Zionist regime.
She, widely respected for defending citizens’ rights and national sovereignty, underscored that Venezuela and Iran share common challenges confronting hostile propaganda and aggression orchestrated by Israel and its Western sponsors.
“With great pride, I receive this award as a symbol of the Venezuelan government’s and people’s unwavering support for the Iranian nation,” Emami stated.
In her address, she highlighted the importance of unity among nations that uphold independence and self-determination, recalling the revolutionary legacy of Simón Bolívar and Hugo Chávez, and acknowledging the courageous leadership of President Nicolás Maduro.
“Your land, our brotherly nation Venezuela, with heroes like Simón Bolívar and Hugo Chávez, under the wise and brave leadership of President Nicolás Maduro, has etched unforgettable memories on the front line of justice against evil,” Emami declared.
The Simón Bolívar National Journalism Prize is one of Venezuela’s most prestigious honors, recognizing individuals who promote media dedicated to justice, peace, and the emancipation of oppressed peoples.
Three Iranian journalists injured in Israel’s barbaric bombing of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting headquarters in Tehran received the special award.
Sahar Emami was the only survivor, while Nima Rajabpour and Masoumeh Azim were martyred during the assault.
At the ceremony in the Ayacucho Hall of Miraflores Palace, President Nicolás Maduro presided over the tribute, where Iran’s ambassador to Caracas, Ali Chegini, accepted the recognition on behalf of the Iranian journalists.
