Anti-Israel Protests Erupt during Argentine Football Match
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A second-division football match in Argentina became the stage for intense anti-Israel demonstrations, with All Boys supporters waving Iranian and Palestinian flags and parading a coffin marked with the Israeli emblem in protest against the Israeli regime.
The clash between All Boys and Atlanta, a club historically linked to Argentina’s Jewish community, was overshadowed by hatred toward the criminal Israeli regime.
Before kickoff, masked All Boys fans carried a black coffin adorned with the Israeli and Atlanta flags while releasing black smoke outside the stadium in Floresta.
Inside the venue, banners declared “Death to the genocidal regime of Israel,” and leaflets reading “Free Palestine” were distributed among spectators.
Midway through the match, a drone bearing the Palestinian flag hovered above the field, forcing a brief suspension of play.
This incident mirrored similar demonstrations that occurred when the teams met the previous year, underscoring how resentment toward Israel’s aggression resonates far beyond the Middle East.
On June 7, 2024, five All Boys supporters were detained for carrying coffins and chanting anti-Israel slogans.
The Buenos Aires Football Security Committee imposed bans ranging from one to four years on the individuals involved.
One of the primary figures, Gastón Panzini, received a four-year stadium ban, while others, including Claudio Ojeda, Lucas Calbanese, Gustavo del Canto, and Leonardo Di Lorenzo, were barred for one year.
The authorities also prohibited the club from bringing drums and banners for two matches and ordered the display of messages against discrimination.
Despite official sanctions, the recent match showed that the outrage toward Israel’s crimes continues to manifest in public venues, amplified by solidarity with Palestine and Iran.
