Iran, Japan FMs Discuss Regional Developments amid Israeli Aggression
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Japan exchanged views on the latest regional developments as the Israeli regime continues its aggression on Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeaki Iwaya talked over the phone on Monday afternoon.
While thanking the Japanese government for condemning the Zionist regime’s aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Araqchi described the attack as a blatant violation of the principles of the UN Charter and international law by the Zionist regime amid the indirect talks between Iran and the US.
He said only two days before the sixth round of negotiations in Muscat, the Zionist regime, in breach of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, launched attacks on the country’s nuclear facilities and residential areas.
He condemned the Zionist regime attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities as dangerous. The top diplomat described the act as a clear violation of international law and stressed that, under international law, such an act constitutes a crime.
He added that what Iran is doing is self-defense, a legitimate and lawful right of every country, according to international law and the UN Charter, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
The Japanese foreign minister for his part reiterated his government’s position of deep concern over the current situation and the escalating tensions in West Asia.
He also declared Japan’s readiness to continue diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
