Iran Eyes Closer Interaction with China to Counter Unilateralism
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi praised China’s constructive stances on the regional and international developments, calling for stronger mutual cooperation in countering the unilateral and bullying approaches in the international arena.
Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Zhong Peiwu met with Araqchi in Tehran on Monday ahead of a visit by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to China.
The meeting revolved around the latest developments in the bilateral relations within the framework of the two countries’ cooperation agreement and also the key regional and international issues of mutual interest between Tehran and Beijing.
Araqchi referred to the very positive trend of relations between Iran and China across various areas of mutual interest and stressed the importance of the strong will of the leaders and senior officials of the two countries to expand ties and to seriously implement the Iran-China 25-year cooperation agreement, the ministry’s website reported.
The foreign minister also reaffirmed Iran’s determination to use all available capacities to boost relations and cooperation with China.
Araqchi described China’s constructive positions on the regional and international developments as valuable and stressed the necessity of continuing and strengthening consultations in order to confront the unilateral and coercive approaches in the international arena.
The foreign minister expressed confidence that the Iranian president’s upcoming visit to China will mark a turning point in the efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations.
The Chinese ambassador, for his part, said he was pleased with the close and strong relations between Tehran and Beijing.
He described the Iranian president’s upcoming visit to China as important for the purpose of advancing the two countries’ comprehensive cooperation treaty and viewed this cooperation as conducive to the strengthening of peace, stability, and development in the region and the wider world.
During the meeting, the latest developments regarding Iran’s nuclear issue were also discussed, and the importance of China’s continued constructive role in this regard was underscored.
