Supervisor of Iranian Hajj Pilgrims Reacts to Arrest of Cleric in Saudi Arabia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The representative of Wali al-Faqih in Hajj and pilgrimage affairs and the supervisor of Iranian Hajj pilgrims made comments about the arrest of an Iranian cleric in Saudi Arabia.

In remarks on Tuesday, Hujjatul-Islam Seyed Abdul-Fatah Navab pointed to the video clip of comments by an Iranian cleric that has gone viral in the virtual space, saying the cleric’s words reflect his own views.

The supervisor of the Iranian Hajj pilgrims said the cleric in the video is actively involved in the programs related to Holy Quran, which is why there are high expectations for his conduct.

Hujjatul-Islam Navab said the honorable officials of Saudi Arabia are expected to allow the Iranian cleric to perform his Hajj rituals and return home considering that the comments made in the video were his own personal views and also considering his services to the promotion of Quranic culture.

Earlier on Tuesday, Iran’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Alireza Enayati sent a post on his X account about the Hajj pilgrimage.

He noted that the pilgrims have traveled to Mecca and Madinah in the hope of God’s mercy and forgiveness.

The envoy also hailed the Saudi officials for their efforts to serve the Hajj pilgrims, saying the pilgrims highly respect the sanctity of the holy sites and are committed to observing the regulations, as nobody would tolerate any foul language or the slightest offensive word.
