Violence Erupts in Paris As PSG Fans Clash with Police after Champions League Win

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Paris descended into chaos late Wednesday after Paris Saint-Germain's 2-1 victory over Arsenal, with rioting fans setting a car ablaze and clashing with police on the Champs-Elysées.

A group of hooded youths wearing Paris Saint-Germain shirts torched a vehicle after it reportedly drove into a crowd celebrating PSG’s semi-final win.

The incident occurred hours after PSG secured a 3-1 aggregate victory over Arsenal, advancing to the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

Local police confirmed that at least three supporters were injured in the incident, one seriously.

"A gang then chased the car, setting it on fire and leaving it to burn after they forced it to stop in a side street," a police source said.

Footage of the burning wreckage on Rue Christophe-Colomb spread rapidly across social media in the early hours of Thursday.

One victim was seen being carried away on a stretcher, according to Le Parisien.

The identity of the car’s driver remains unknown, with those inside fleeing the scene before authorities arrived.

By 2 a.m., police had arrested more than 20 people in connection with the unrest.

The arrested individuals were reportedly PSG supporters; no Arsenal fans were implicated.

Approximately 2,000 Arsenal fans were present in Paris, with many watching the match from local venues.

In anticipation of potential disturbances, French authorities had deployed 2,000 extra officers across the capital.

Despite increased security, violence erupted before kickoff near the Parc des Princes stadium.

Riot police used tear gas to disperse PSG fans, with videos showing officers charging at fleeing supporters.

"Entire streets are tear-gassed by the police ahead of the Parc des Princes," read one video caption.

Supporters were seen shielding their faces and rinsing their eyes with water amid the chaos.

Arsenal had earlier advised travelling fans to remain alert following past disturbances involving PSG fans, including during a fixture with Aston Villa.

PSG’s win secures their place in the Champions League final, where they will face Inter Milan.
