WHO Chief Condemns Israel’s Killing of 12 Paramedics in Lebanon Strike
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has condemned an Israeli airstrike on a Lebanese civil defense center that killed at least 12 paramedics, calling it part of a disturbing trend of attacks on healthcare during conflicts.
The Israeli airstrike targeted a civil defense center in Lebanon's eastern Baalbek region, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 paramedics and significant damage to the facility.
“Attacks on healthcare are becoming the new normal in conflicts. This must stop – everywhere!” Tedros wrote on social media, expressing his dismay over the incident.
The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeepers have faced repeated attacks from Israeli forces as tensions continue to escalate, with Israel ramping up its strikes and conducting a ground invasion in southern Lebanon.
