Iran’s Steel Export Tops 9 Million Tons in 9-Month Period

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) said the volume of steel exports has exceeded nine million tons in the first nine months of the current Iranian year, registering a new record in this sector.

ISPA announced in its latest report that Iran’s export of semi-finished steel products from March 21 to December 22, 2023, has registered a 7.6 percent hike compared to the same period last year.

In this period, the export of steel products also showed a 4% growth compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

Meanwhile, the export of iron ore concentrates, including iron ore pellets and sponge iron, have increased by 92.7 and 97 percent, respectively, IRNA reported.

The report added that over 1.21 million tons of sponge iron and more than 7.24 million tons of iron ore pellets have been exported from Iran in the 9-month period.

The ISPA put the total volume of steel exports, including semi-finished and steel products, from March 21 to December 22, 2023, at 8.98 million tons.
