Iran’s Steel Exports Up 25% in 6 Months: IMIDRO
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) on Sunday announced that Iran’s steel exports increased by 25.6 percent in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023).
Despite the energy restrictions in the country, the production and export volume of steel ingot and steel products significantly surged, IMIDRO said.
The major steel production companies in the country produced 15.422 million tons of semi-finished steel products (steel ingot including billet, bloom and slab) from March 21 to September 22, 2023, showing a 0.2 percent hike compared to the same period last year.
The domestic steel production firms had produced 15.396 million tons of steel products from March 21 to September 2022.
They produced 11.112 million tons of iron beam, rebar, and various types of iron sheets in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, registering a three percent hike compared to last year’s corresponding period.
In addition, 18.857 million tons of sponge iron were produced from March 21 to September 22, 2023, showing about six percent growth compared to the same period of last year, IMIDRO continued.
The country had produced 17.808 million tons of sponge iron from March 21 to September 22, 2022.
The domestic steel production companies exported 3.690 million tons of semi-finished steel and also 1.538 million tons of various steel products from March 21 to September 22, 2023, registering a 25.6 and eight percent growth respectively compared to the last year’s corresponding period.
