Iran’s Export of Aquatics Up 32% in 5 Months: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The director general of the Iranian Fisheries Organization for Quality Improvement, Processing, and Aquatic Market Development said the country exported more than 83,000 tons of aquatics, valued at $140 million, in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year.
Iran’s export of aquatics from March 21 to August 22, 2023 registered a 32 percent hike in terms of weight and value respectively, compared to the same period of last year, Abbas Mokhtari said.
In this timespan, 11,104 tons of shrimps, valued at $37.6 million, were exported, showing a 46 and 48 percent increase in terms of volume and value respectively compared to the same period last year, Mokhtari added.
He noted that the export of types of feed of aquatics rose from 15,236 tons, valued at $102 million, from March 21 to August 22, 2022 to 28,628 tons, valued at $23.6 million, from March 21 to August 22, 2023, indicating an 88 and 132 percent growth in terms of weight and value respectively.
Mokhtari also said the country exported 3,347 tons of tuna fish, valued at $2.9 million, from March 21 to August 22, 2023, showing a 142 and 198 percent hike in weight and value respectively compared to the same period of last year.
