Official Says Ground Set for Iran’s Aquatic Exports to China, Russia
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The way has been paved for Iran’s export of aquatic animals to the Russian and Chinese markets following a memorandum of understanding inked in this regard, an official said.
Speaking ahead of the Government Week late on Monday, Head of Iran Fisheries Organization (IFO) Seyed Hossein Hosseini emphasized that Iran’s export of fisheries considerably flourished in the current administration thanks to its dynamic economic diplomacy.
With producing 1,352,000 tons of fisheries products, Iran ranks first in West Asia in the field of production of aquatic protein in the region, he maintained.
The deputy minister of agriculture added that Iran’s fisheries industry has boomed since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Hosseini also pointed to the sea-based economy and stated that his organization has taken effective measures in the current year to play a leading role in the realization of objectives of the fisheries industry in the 7th Five-Year Socioeconomic and Cultural Development Plan.
