Good News on Iran-China Ties to Come Out of Presidential Visit: Spokesman
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian administration said "good news" will be published on the implementation of the comprehensive cooperation agreement between Iran and China at the conclusion of President Ebrahim Raisi’s state visit to Beijing.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Ali Bahadori Jahromi said Raisi’s trip to China marks his tenth foreign visit in less than a year and a half after taking office.
The main agenda of the presidential visit is the implementation of the 25-year strategic cooperation agreement between Iran and China with a focus on economic issues, he added.
Describing China as Iran’s biggest trade partner, the spokesman said the total value of trade exchanges in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year has surpassed $25.3 billion.
He also stated that good news will come out on the coming into force of the comprehensive cooperation agreement with China at the end of the presidential visit.
Raisi is visiting Beijing at the official invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
In March 2021, the foreign ministers of Iran and China signed a 25-year agreement to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
The Iran-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was announced in a joint statement during a visit by the Chinese president to Tehran in 2016.
Speaking to Tasnim on Tuesday, Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ehsan Khandouzi unveiled plans to sign around 20 agreements with China during the landmark visit by President Raisi to Beijing.
He noted that Iranian and Chinese delegations have defined a series of joint projects that will be finalized during the Iranian president’s state visit to China.
