Iranian Weightlifter Javadi Claims Gold: ISG 2021
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Weightlifter Mir Mostafa Javadi of Iran won a gold medal in the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) on Saturday.
In the Men’s 81kg, Javadi lifted 163kg in snatch, 201kg in clean and jerk and 364kg in total.
Indonesian Rahmat Erwin Abdullah won the silver with 158kg in snatch, 197kg in clean and jerk for a total of 355kg.
Mukhammadkodir Toshtemirov of Uzbekistan took the bronze with 164kg in snatch, 190kg in clean and jerk and 354kg for total.
The 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games are being held in Konya, Turkey, from August 9 to 18, 2022. It is a multinational, multi-sport event that is played between the athletes from the nations of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
With an exception of the 2010 Games, it has taken place every four years since its debut in 2005 at Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The Islamic Solidarity Games are organized and directed by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, but for the first time in history, the event is organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee.
