Iranian, UN Diplomats Discuss Settlement of Yemen Crisis
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior adviser to the Iranian foreign minister and the United Nations secretary-general’s new special envoy for Yemen weighed plans for the resolution of conflicts in the Arab country.
As Tehran continues consultations on how to resolve the Yemeni crisis, Iranian diplomat Ali Asghar Khaji and Hans Grundberg, the UN special envoy for Yemen, held a telephone conversation on Sunday.
The two officials reviewed the latest developments related to the lifting of the blockade on Yemen and the peace process there.
Khaji stressed that Iran will continue its constructive role in achieving a fair peace in Yemen through a political settlement.
For his part, Grundberg of Sweden referred to the history of Iran’s constructive efforts to resolve the crisis in Yemen.
He called for the continuation of such cooperation and briefed Khaji on his recent efforts to promote peace in Yemen within the UN framework.
