Syrian Army in Control of New Town in Idlib Countryside (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian army took control of the town of Ebla, near Mardikh heights, in an region recently retaken by troops in Idlib countryside.

The army also seized control over hundreds of archaeological artefacts inside Idlib's former center for the Italian archaeological mission.

The town of Ebla is located in an ancient area that was founded over 5,000 years ago above the Idlib plain, lying east of the Aleppo-Damascus highway, and is one of the most important Syrian archaeological sites that dates back to the Bronze Age in the country. The city was discovered in 1964 by a team of Italian archaeologists.
