Ansarullah Says Committed to Political Solution to Yemeni Crisis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A spokesman for Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement underlined that the movement is determined to help resolve the ongoing crisis in the Arab country through political means.

“We are committed to a political solution to the Yemeni crisis. Saudi Arabia, however, is sabotaging (the peace talks),” Mohammad Abdul-Salam said in an interview with Yemen’s state television.

He stressed that the Ansarullah officials are ready to return to the Omani capital of Muscat to resume the peace negotiations.

The spokesman further called on the other party to the talks (Saudis and representatives of fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi’s government) to fulfill their obligations to end the Yemeni crisis.

Abdul-Salam went on to defend Ansarullah’s defensive measures, saying that they have nothing to do with the “political path” taken by the movement, and that Yemeni forces will continue to defend the country against aggressors in any place, even on Saudi soil.

On Saturday, the Saudi-backed exiled government of Hadi announced that it was considering an invitation from the United Nations to attend talks aimed at ending the war.

The remarks came as Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by a coalition led by the Saudi regime for months.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies, including the UAE, began to launch deadly airstrikes against the Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Hadi, who is a close ally of Riyadh.

More than 4000 people, many of them children and women, have been killed in the Saudi-led aggression against the Arab country so far.
