Iraqi Official Urges Expansion of Joint Investments with Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Iraq-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce Ja'far al-Hamdani voiced Baghdad's willingness to expand joint investments with Iran.
On the sidelines of the opening ceremony of Iran’s exclusive exhibition in Baghdad on Monday, al-Hamdani said that Iraq expects the mutual cooperation between the two neighboring countries to go beyond trade exchanges.
“Joint investments in housing, electricity, electronics, water, and waste management sectors are among the most important areas through which the two countries can expand their trade exchanges,” he stressed.
He further hailed the role of exclusive exhibitions in the development of economy in both countries, and expressed the hope that the opening of Iran’s exclusive exhibition could lead to the expansion of Iran-Iraq ties.
In similar remarks last month, Hamdani had expressed discontent with the current status of bilateral trade between Iran and Iraq, calling for measures to give a fresh impetus to economic ties of the two neighbors.
