Speaking at a conference on the draft of Iran’s maritime development blueprint, Rear Admiral Irani called for greater focus on the country’s connectivity to global seas.
“The enemy’s main strategy today is to limit the corridors and monopolize their use while excluding Iran,” he said.
The commander noted that while national planning documents have consistently highlighted the North-South Corridor, insufficient attention has been paid to the East-West maritime routes.
The Navy chief also called for stronger emphasis on the development of maritime logistics hubs in the national maritime development document.
