Speaking at a parliamentary session on Sunday, Qalibaf said the permanent cessation of the genocide, an end to aggression and occupation, the withdrawal of Israeli occupying forces, the lifting of the blockade, and the reopening of border crossings to allow the free flow of food, medicine, and essential goods into Gaza are immediate demands of the Palestinian nation and resistance groups — demands that are also fully supported by Iran.
The speaker noted that the ceasefire in Gaza marked a major defeat for the “corrupt prime minister of the Zionist regime” in his attempt to recover from the humiliating failure of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation.
“Netanyahu had openly declared goals such as the elimination of Hamas, the forced release of prisoners, the displacement and evacuation of Gaza to restore the occupiers’ lost sense of security,” Qalibaf said. “But after two years of genocide, famine, and the massacre of women and children, the steadfast resistance of the people of Gaza and the united support of the entire Resistance Front forced the world to rise against these 21st-century Nazis.”
He went on to say that ultimately, the US and the Zionist regime were compelled to accept defeat and sign a ceasefire agreement that failed to achieve any of their declared objectives.
Qalibaf concluded that despite the heavy human cost, the Palestinian people have managed not only to impose their will on the criminal Israeli regime but also to expose the Zionists as some of the most reviled figures in today’s world.
The Zionist regime and the Palestinian group Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire deal after more than 460 days of a war that has devastated Gaza.
Israel has killed more than 67,000 Palestinians since its war on the enclave began in October 2023.
The deal includes a temporary ceasefire that will, for now, bring to an end the destruction visited upon Gaza, as well as the release of captives held in Gaza and many of the prisoners held by the Israeli regime. The deal will also, finally, allow displaced Palestinians to return to their homes – though after Israel’s deliberate destruction campaign, many homes no longer remain.
The initial phase will last six weeks, and will involve a limited prisoner exchange, the partial withdrawal of Israeli troops in Gaza and a surge of aid into the enclave.
