The Sumud flotilla, carrying civil society activists from various countries, was intercepted in international waters by Israeli forces.
Reports said Israeli naval units seized 42 vessels and detained their crews, transferring them to detention facilities in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The move sparked widespread outrage across Tunisia.
Protesters marched through the capital waving Tunisian and Palestinian flags, chanting against Israeli regime and its Western backers.
Slogans included: “No fear, no retreat — the people protect Sumud,” “The Al-Aqsa Flood will continue until the Zionist regime collapses,” “No to US interests in Tunisia,” and “No peace, no recognition, no negotiations — end the genocide in Gaza.”
According to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, Aboubakr Belthabet, head of the Tunisian Bar Association, said the Sumud flotilla had successfully shifted global public opinion about Israel’s crimes in Gaza.
“We call for international support for the Palestinian people and the detained members of the Sumud flotilla — this is a universal demand,” he said.
Belthabet added that Tunisians would continue mass protests and diplomatic pressure “as long as Israeli aggression on Gaza persists.”
Demonstrators described Israel’s interception of the flotilla as another act of piracy and oppression, condemning Tel Aviv for targeting civilians and silencing humanitarian efforts meant to expose its siege on Gaza.
