Esteghlal Suffers Home Loss against Al Muharraq
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bahrain’s Al Muharraq Club made it two wins out of two after edging Esteghlal of Iran 1-0 in their AFC Champions League Two 2025-26 Group A tie on Wednesday.
The win sees Al Muharraq keeping pace with the UAE’s Al Wasl FC at the summit while Esteghlal’s hopes suffered another blow following a second successive defeat.
Al Muharraq scored at the hour mark after Juninho Piauiense set Simoes free on the left, with the Brazilian finishing the move with a fine strike past Far Abbasi.
Esteghlal will host Al Wehdat at the Shahr-e Qods Stadium on October 22, while Al Muharraq play at home against Al Wasl in the same day.
