Dream of Bringing Iran to Its Knees Won’t Come True: President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Attempts to force Iran into submission will fail, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated, arguing that sanctions are imposed because Iran refuses to bow to humiliation.

Speaking at a ceremony marking Firefighter’s Day on Monday, Pezeshkian rejected foreign pressure and sanctions aimed at forcing Iran to submit.

“They want to sanction us because we will not bow down to them, because we will not be humiliated,” he said, adding that the notion of bringing Iran and its people to their knees is “only a dream and fantasy.”

Condemning the Western governments that preach human rights and democracy, the president criticized their double standards over Gaza. He said the Zionist regime that has long destabilized the region has not once been sanctioned or condemned by the UN Security Council because the US repeatedly uses its veto.

“The human rights (claims), this United Nations and UNESCO — all are nothing more than lies, because innocent people are killed before their eyes, and Israel attacks any country it wants at no cost,” he said.

Pezeshkian lashed out at certain international actors for trying to coerce Iran into submission, insisting that even imagining such a capitulation is out of the question for him.

Concluding his remarks, the president reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to protect national dignity and to pursue policies that safeguard the country’s independence and welfare.
