President: Iran Committed to Deepening Strategic Ties with Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted Iran’s determination to expand and elevate relations with Lebanon, describing bilateral ties as grounded in truth, justice, and mutual respect.

In a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on Monday, Pezeshkian said Iran seeks stronger cooperation with Lebanon and other regional states within a framework of solidarity and win-win interaction.

The Iranian president reiterated that his approach to foreign relations is rooted in Islamic teachings and the principle of reciprocity. “What we wish for ourselves, we should wish for others.”

He stressed that adherence to this principle would eliminate many obstacles in diplomatic ties, while also reinforcing unity across the Muslim world.

Condemning the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Muslim nations, Pezeshkian said the Zionist regime has trampled on all human rights and international norms. He lamented that certain countries, while claiming to defend human rights, remain silent on the atrocities in Gaza and even provide military and political support to the aggressor.

President Aoun, for his part, welcomed the deepening of Beirut-Tehran relations and expressed optimism that cooperation between the two nations would continue to grow despite challenges.

He affirmed Lebanon’s commitment to friendly ties with Iran, praised the Islamic Republic’s support for the Palestinian cause, and condemned Israeli aggression against Iran and the wider region.

Aoun also stressed that differing viewpoints among countries are natural but can be overcome through dialogue, understanding, and continuous collaboration.
